Setting Off

Ratana rolled his eyes and looked around the room, avoiding any eyecontact with Shavkh. He wasn't quite his usual cocky self and looking a little paler than usual, he appeared to have left his sharp tongue up on D7219.

"This'rns nice ship," noted Querin, running a hand along a smooth console.

Veris glanced at the pad, then back up at Shavkh, his brow furrowing slightly in concern, but remained silent.

Emmor shook his head, "I think we'll be fine from here sir. You can expect reports when we have the time to spare." with a nod, he fell quiet as well, looking over the ship and the new crewmembers thoughtfully.

"Excellent," said the Inquisitor with a nod. "I'm sure you can organise your crew without my assistance."

Original Summons

Ratana drew in a deep breath slowly, and raised his eyebrows, looking at the contorted figure ahead of them. "That's..." He spoke in a hushed whisper. "... quite..." He seemed lost for words and stared oddly at the remains. ".... interesting...."

Veris stared at the lump on the table, his eyes widening, mouth open slightly. He continued down, staring in disbelief at what had once been the body.

"Oh..." he said, quietly

Gentlemen. Could you meet me in my office immediately?

Ratana frowned slightly upon receiving the COMM message, but immediately made his way up to the Inquisitor's office, knocking smartly on the door as he arrived.

"Come in," the Inquisitor responded, as the door opened automatically. "Ahh. Ratana. Take a seat, would you? Let's wait for the others."

Waiting until all of his guests had completed their meals, Shavkh got to his feet and smiled pleasantly. "If you wouldn't mind following me, I'll take you on that tour now. It should be interesting, especially as it's dark outside. You'll see."

The atmosphere in the mess hall is thick and oppressive- a feeling not much helped by the sudden hush that falls over the assembly as they note your entrance. Heads turn, cadets stare, and a low whisper starts up in a corner.
The hall itself is a long, shallow crescent nested up against the outer wall of the station, the typical plassglass observation windows all along one side with the kitchens and serving line on the inner curve. Today's meal does smell pretty good, and despite the odd circumstances it would be good to eat after your journey. You're trying not to stare at the purple-stained clouds as they rip apart and bleed across the sunset.
Scanning the room, it's not immediately obvious where you're supposed to sit. The Inquisitor doesn't appear to be here yet. There are a few empty tables, but most are occupied by one or two researchers.

It’s a surprisingly cool day here on the D2719 Outer Rim facility. Through the seamless plasglass that separates you from the elements, endless layers of bright cloud are clearly visible in the upper atmosphere as they are torn apart by the strangely high, vicious winds unique to this planet. Frankly, it’s just a creepy version of any other base you’ve been posted to before, and you’ll be glad to leave.
